Hello, my daughter suffers from anorexia and the psychiatrist prescribed sulpiride 100mg per day in the morning on an empty stomach. Because of drowsiness and fear of side effects, my daughter asks me to stop taking the drug. Can we stop taking the drug? And if not, is it possible for my daughter to get medication that does not cause weight gain or weight loss? Please answer me quickly because anorexia has been delved by fear of medication.

Sulpiride is a prescription drug, so you should not stop taking it without consulting your doctor.
Unfortunately, most medications used for mental disorders can cause weight gain. However, this is not a rule and this side effect does not occur in every person taking this type of medication.
It would be best to consult a psychiatrist and at the same time make sure that your daughter remains under the constant care of a psychologist. Treatment gives much better results when, in addition to pharmacotherapy (taking medications), the patient attends regular visits to a psychologist.
If you are unable to consult your doctor, a teleconsultation may be an introduction to further proceedings, e.g. here:

The specialist will tell you how to deal with the fear of side effects during treatment and what steps to take next.
