Melodyn can only be obtained with a prescription, so both the dose and the duration of therapy should be adjusted individually, under its supervision.
If you decide to discontinue the preparation, your doctor will probably gradually reduce the dose of the drug. This is especially important in the case of long-term use of high doses of the product.
After the patch is removed, the concentration of buprenorphine contained in the blood serum decreases gradually, which means that its analgesic effect persists for some time after its removal.
The buprenorphine contained in the drug has a much lower addictive potential than other opioids used (which are pure agonists). In clinical trials, no withdrawal reactions were observed after discontinuation of buprenorphine.
However, their occurrence cannot be fully excluded, especially after long-term use of the product.
