Is coaxil a drug
Safer than Anafranil? Second question, in a week I have a gastroscopy under sedation or do I have to stop coaxil on the day of the procedure? I have an examination at 9:00 p.m. I take the drug I use the drug twice a day for 1 tabl. morning and afternoon. Is it safe with sedation?

To @Klaudia:
It is highly likely that these symptoms are related to the recent discontinuation of Trittico. They can also be caused by stress. Tianeptine is a drug with a different receptor mechanism of action from SSRIs. Its positive effect on neuroplasticity processes, which in depression are disturbed due to chronic stress, has been proven in many studies. The nausea should go away in the coming days.

To alleviate nausea, over-the-counter ginger-based preparations can be used.

Thank you for your reply. Previously, after stopping anafranil, the doctor prescribed me trittico first at a dose of 50 mg, later reduced to 25 mg. Unfortunately, for 1.5 months of taking the drug, I had constant nausea, vomiting, stomach pain. The doctor said that this is how he apparently reacts to SSRIs (a few years ago we tried with setaloft and the side effects were exactly the same). I've been taking coaxil for a week now and I'm still a little nauseous. They are definitely smaller than with the trittico, but they have not disappeared completely. Is it possible that this is still the case after trittico? I stopped taking it a week ago. Perhaps they are also nervous, because I was very stressed about this bad mood after trittico, all the time I thought they would pass, but they didn't
Passed. That's why I decided to do a gastroscopy to rule out any other possibility of stomach pain. What can be taken temporarily for nausea and stomach pain?

Both medicines are considered safe when used as directed by a doctor.
The advantage of tianeptine (Coaxil) is its unique mechanism of action and the lower (compared to Anafranil) risk of interactions with other drugs used in parallel.

Since tianeptine is a drug that is not metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes, it is safe in patients undergoing treatment for other somatic diseases, especially cardiovascular diseases or diabetes (there are no adverse drug interactions). Tianeptine also does not require dose adjustment in patients with hepatic insufficiency, associated with cirrhosis or without cirrhosis.

In both cases, abrupt discontinuation of the drug should be avoided due to the possibility of side effects.

It may be necessary to stop taking the medication the day before the procedure - however, the decision should be made by a doctor, preferably an anaesthesiologist.

According to the manufacturer of Coaxil: "When general anesthesia is necessary, the anaesthetist should be notified of the use of tianeptine. The drug should be discontinued 24-48 hours before the planned surgery. In cases of emergency surgery, the patient should be carefully monitored in the postoperative period."
