Good morning. I have a question about insulin actrapid. If the duration of action is 7-8 hours, the doses are not cumulative. At meals at 8,12,17,21 ? Is the effect after the time of maximum action negligible?

To @Sylwia:
The maximum effect is usually observed after 1-3 hours, followed by a concentration that is not of great therapeutic importance. Therefore, it is important to be regular so that the peaks of action do not overlap - then there will be no accumulation and the treatment is safe.
I was more concerned with how it is that meals are every 4 hours, i.e. doses every 4 hours and insulin works for 7-8 hours. Are the doses not overlapping?
Thanks in advance

Actrapid is not cumulative.
Actrapid is a quick-acting insulin.
The onset of action occurs within 1/2 hour, the maximum action occurs between 1.5 and 3.5 hours, and the total duration of action is about 7-8 hours - it decreases gradually. It is usually used up to 3 times a day.
The insulin injection should be given up to 30 minutes before a planned carbohydrate meal or snack. To prevent hypoglycaemia, it is important to ensure that meals are regular.
