Hello. My son went to the emergency room today with a toothache. It turned out to be inflammatory and he was given the antibiotic Amoksiklav (400mg+57)/5ml every 8 hours with a scoop of 5ml . Son's weight 29.5kg, isn't this dose too small for his weight?

As far as dosage is concerned, please follow the information given to you by your doctor. As a pharmacist, I can only give you general information:
According to the Summary of Product Characteristics, the recommended doses of Amoksiklav range from (25 mg + 3.6 mg)/kg/day to (45 mg + 6.4 mg)/kg/day in two divided doses.
In the case of a child weighing 29.5 kg, it will be from (737.5 mg + 106.2 mg) to (1327.5 mg + 188.8 mg) per day, i.e. 9.2 ml - 16.60 ml. A dose of 5 ml 3x dz (15 ml) is within the recommendations.
Please note that the dose depends on the severity of the infection, the susceptibility of the microorganism causing the infection, the patient's condition, age and weight. Only a doctor can therefore make decisions on this topic because he knows the health status of his patient. Knowledge about age and body weight is insufficient.
If you are concerned about this situation, it is always a good idea to consult a doctor who can give you more personalized advice. If you do not have the opportunity to take advantage of the advice, I am attaching a link to the online teleconsultation:
