Can I stop taking Cortiment MMX, for example, every other day or split a tablet?

Good morning, I was treated with Cortiment MXX therapy for 3 months. The last time I stopped overnight, I felt bad. Can I take the medication every other day or divide the tablet, for example? Greetings and thank you for your reply.

Theoretically, Cortiment MMX does not cause the systemic symptoms typical of standard steroid drugs - the tablet is designed in such a way that the drug is released only within the large intestine and has a local effect. For the same reason, the safety profile of Cortiment is much higher than that of classic steroid therapy and there is no need to gradually reduce the dose. Most doctors allow the use of Cortiment MMX in the system, e.g. every second or third day, to maintain the effect of the drug. Of course, you can consult this strategy with your doctor. Do not divide the drug due to the previously mentioned design of the tablet coating. Splitting the tablet may result in insufficient action or release of the active substance in another part of the gastrointestinal tract (which is associated with an increased risk of side effects).
