Ozempic (semaglutide) is a medication that is mainly prescribed to treat type 2 diabetes. It is a drug from the group of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1) agonists. Its main purpose is to control blood sugar levels by increasing insulin secretion and decreasing glucagon secretion.

Although some people with type 2 diabetes may notice weight loss benefits when using Ozempic, this drug is not intended to be used solely for weight loss. In addition, the use of prescription drugs without proper medical supervision can be dangerous. Self-use of medications prescribed for purposes other than those indicated by the doctor can lead to unpredictable side effects and adverse interactions with other medications.
