It is important to remember that drugs are mostly chemicals that we put into our body for therapeutic purposes. However, each organism is an individual and can react to a given preparation in different ways.
Years of experience with pharmacology allow us to identify possible side effects, collect this data and make it available to patients so that they can link them to the use of a given drug if they occur.
The WHO definition says that adverse drug reactions are any adverse and unintended effect that occurs when the recommended doses of a drug are used in humans for prophylactic, diagnostic, curative purposes and to restore, improve or modify the physiological functions of the body.
Any medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
That's why it's so important to report them. This broadens our knowledge about a given drug and its effects on the body.
There are a number of factors that increase the risk of side effects. It is worth remembering about them so that the therapy with a given drug is as safe as possible.
The factors in question are:
Age – children and the elderly are more likely to experience side effects after taking medication body weight - for very short and slim people (<40 kg)="" lub="" bardzo="" wysokich="" i="" otyłych="" (="">100 kg), one should take into account sometimes large differences in the effect of drugs Gender - greater sensitivity of women to the effects of drugs pregnancy comorbidities, e.g. kidney disease, liver disease Genetic predispositions
