A 3.5-year-old child of about 15 kg was given polcortolon 4mg tablets. Generally collapsed, cough runny nose almost 2 months. Tests ok, lung X-ray ok. She was given a dosage of 1.5 tablets and that was 2 times a day. Isn't that too much? After reading the reviews and the leaflet, I'm afraid to give it.

At the outset, it should be noted that Polcortolon is a prescription drug, so the appropriateness and need for its use should be determined by a doctor. So please follow your doctor's instructions. As a pharmacist, I can only give you general information.

The dosage of Polcortolon, especially in children, should always be decided by your doctor based on your individual health needs as well as the type of condition you are treating. Polcortolone is a steroid medication (corticosteroid) that can be used to treat inflammatory skin conditions, allergies, asthma, and other conditions. In children, 0.416-1.7 mg/kg/day should be used. In this case, your daughter should get 12mg of Polcortolon, which does not exceed the doses recommended by the manufacturer.

The GdziePoLek.pl service also allows you to book the medicine at a selected stationary pharmacy and collect it after presenting a prescription:

Reviews and the medication leaflet may provide information on potential side effects and warnings for use, but the final dosage should be determined by your doctor. It's also a good idea to tell your doctor about any concerns or side effects you notice after giving the medication to your child.

If you do not have the possibility of an in-person visit, I encourage you to take advantage of the teleconsultation:
