Pulmicort is a prescription-only medication and it is not recommended to start or stop treatment with this medicine without consulting a specialist.
The active substance is budesonide. Budesonide is a corticosteroid commonly used to prevent asthma flare-ups and cold symptoms.
There are reports that early administration of inhaled budesonide reduced the likelihood of needing urgent medical care and shortened recovery time from early COVID-19 infection.
There is no evidence that the drug reduces the production of antibodies against RSV, influenza, or SARS-CoV-2. What's more, during COVID-19 treatment with this drug, the duration of hospitalization decreased.
