Alcohol may increase the effects of metoprolol (the active ingredient in Metocard) by causing your blood pressure to fall too low and cause side effects such as headache, dizziness and fainting.
Skipping a dose of alcohol to consume alcohol is not advisable and, in my opinion, poses a greater health risk than drinking alcohol in moderation and with an interval (at least a few hours) from the drug.
