Could Zentel have damaged my liver?
Hello. I felt very bad when I was deworming with zentel. Symptoms such as headaches and dizziness are gone. After about 2 months, I had liver tests, which are good, only bilirubin is elevated to 1.5. I have a reduced appetite. Could a single dose of zentel have done some serious damage to my liver? He does not take any other medications. Thank you for your reply

According to the summary of product characteristics, Zentel rarely causes hepatobiliary problems. More often than one patient in a thousand may cause an increase in liver enzymes.
In humans, albendazole (the active substance in Zentel) is poorly absorbed after oral administration (<5%). Wchłanianie albendazolu zwiększa się około 5-krotnie, jeśli dawka leku jest podana razem z pokarmem o dużej zawartości tłuszczu.
Reasumując, jest mało prawdopodobne, że kuracja lekiem Zentel mogła uszkodzić wątrobę. W opisywanym przypadku wyniki badań wątrobowych były w normie, więc nie możemy mówić o uszkodzeniu tego narządu.
