What is the difference between Rectodelt and Encorton, why do I have to give my child 10 times the dose in suppositories compared to tablets despite having the same active ingredient?

Good morning, I would like to understand the difference between Rectodelt and encorton. The paediatrician recommends that the daughter (5 years old) take 10 mg (exceptionally 20 mg) of encorton or a suppository that will swirl 100 mg. Why can I give 100 mg of a substance at a time with a suppository and only 10-20 mg of the same substance in a tablet?

The bioavailability of prednisone in suppositories is significantly lower than in the case of the drug in tablet form. Therefore, much higher doses of the drug should be administered rectally compared to the oral dose, so that finally a similar amount of the active substance reaches the systemic circulation.

For tablets – The oral bioavailability of prednisone is 70 to 90%.

In the case of suppositories - up to a maximum of 30%, an average of 10-20%.
