The use of the Fertistim dietary supplement is not contraindicated in patients undergoing the process of ovulation stimulation.
The main component of the mentioned preparation is myo-inositol. According to the Position of the Team of Experts of the Polish Gynecological Society regarding the use of preparations containing myo-inositol by patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), supplementation with preparations containing myo-inositol, m.in. due to its impact on improving the quality of eggs, in women with PCOS undergoing ovarian stimulation seems to be justified.
The publication reads: "In patients with PCOS, before and during the protocols of controlled ovulation hyperstimulation, it was found that patients taking myo-inositol required a lower total dose of gonadotropins and had lower serum estradiol concentrations on the day of termination of stimulation. The percentage of immature oocytes was also lower compared to the group taking only folic acid, although the proportion of pregnancies did not differ significantly between the groups."
