Jardiance does not lower your blood sugar immediately after taking it and does not cause hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar levels). This medicine contains a substance called empagliflozin, which helps to maintain adequate blood glucose levels. This happens through a mechanism in which the drug causes a decrease in the reabsorption of glucose in the kidneys, that is, excess glucose excretes in the urine and thus helps maintain adequate blood sugar levels.
