Azithromycin (the active ingredient in Sumamed) is not the first choice for Lyme disease because it is less effective. It is only recommended for resistance to beta-lactam antibiotics and for the treatment of erythema migrans. According to the documentation of the drug: "the total dose is 3 g and should be administered in the following scheme: on the first day 1 g (2 film-coated tablets of 500 mg), and then 500 mg (1 film-coated tablet) from the second to the fifth day, in single daily doses."
