Linezolid inhibits the multiplication of bacteria. Thanks to its mechanism of action, it selectively inhibits the protein synthesis of bacteria. The drug binds to specific sites on the bacterial ribosome (23S 50S subunits) and prevents the formation of the active 70S initiation complex, which is essential in the translation process. It is not a first-line drug for the treatment of urinary tract infections, and the dosage is determined individually for each patient. For tablets, the maximum dose is 600 mg 2 times a day.
