Insulin Levemir is included in the list of free medicines for pregnant women. The condition for obtaining a free prescription is the use of insulin in one of the reimbursed indications, i.e.: 1. Type I diabetes in adults, adolescents and children aged 2 years and above. 2. Type 2 diabetes mellitus in patients treated with NPH insulin for at least 6 months and with HbA1c ≥8% and type 2 diabetes mellitus in patients treated with NPH insulin for at least 6 months and with documented recurrent episodes of severe or nocturnal hypoglycaemia and diabetes mellitus of known cause (as defined by the WHO). Free insulin should be prescribed by a doctor or midwife on the basis of a certificate confirming pregnancy, if there are indications for this above. Prescribing insulin Levemir in other indications can only be with a fully paid fee. If you are entitled to one of the above-mentioned reimbursement indications, I encourage you to consult your doctor again.
