Good morning. He takes Bupoprion along with brintellix. First, I took Brintellix 1.5 msc now I have an increased dose of x2 + added bupoprion for a week. I noticed that my whole body was trembling, especially my hands. Is it possible that it is from medicines? In addition, I have never had problems with sleeping, and now I wake up several times during the night. It's hard for me to focus.

Last year I had a severe depression. Mirtazapine would have worked well as an AD at the beginning, but would have been heavily sedated. I needed up to 14 hours of sleep and was still tired. In addition, I had a desire to eat to the power of 10... The doctor switched me to escitalopram, which we increased to 15mg. In the beginning I had the typical side effects (dry mouth, restlessness, nausea, abnormal dreams, loss of libido, I could no longer feel my clitoris and there was no longer any talk of an orgasm). After 2 or 3 months I was able to work again. About 8 months later we tapered it off again. The main reason: libido.
With psychological support, less than two months passed, I really fell into the hole again. I was diagnosed with severe depression and I took Wellbutrin 150mg at my own request. (I am myself dipl. nurse and know a little about it). Against the restlessness I was accompanied with Quetiapine, Relaxan and Redormin. The 150mg was absolutely not enough, I became suicidal about 1 month after 1st intake and had to go to the acute clinic. They tried to increase the Wellbutrin to 300mg (note, I'm only 48 kg. In the time with Wellbutrin I lost 6kg within 2 months). Wellbutrin 300mg was really too much for me with my symptoms. The strong inner restlessness, a resting heart rate of 120 and the strong nausea/vomiting was not suitable. I developed panic attacks, was only crying, vomiting and a "small pile of misery". So I left the clinic again with 150mg, which went well for a short time, in the second week I got into the hole again so badly that I was admitted from the acute again. My pronounced morning low was no longer bearable, despite listlessness, listlessness an extreme restlessness and nausea. This time I came to another psychiatrist in the acute ward. He left various decisions to me. And one of them was to combine Wellbutrin 150mg with Brintellix, which I decided to do. We started with 5mg to sneak in. On the 1st day I didn't notice anything new (the usual restlessness, nausea and depri symptoms). From the 2nd day it started. Strong tremors, severe crying fits, insurmountable palpitations, gushing vomiting and hyperventilation. But this time I was convinced to go through with it. At night 50mg quetiapine and hardly slept, the heart asen drove me crazy. On the 3rd day, the same thing from the beginning. A psychiatrist worked with me (despite my lack of concentration) to develop skills that I can use. Since nothing helped, we decided on Quetiapine 50mg and Temesta ex 1mg. I slept for 3 hours in the afternoon and then I got up like a new born. And from that point on, things went uphill for me. It took time and the Brintellix is adjusted for me according to the symptoms. On the 5th day I was already back on the inline skating outside in the afternoon. The whole thing took 3 months, with the sneaking of Brintellix only bringing the improvement. I hope that this may also be the case for you.

Yes, most likely, these symptoms are caused by medications. You increased your dose of Brintellix and then added bupropion, which causes an additional increase in Brintellix blood levels. Such a therapeutic combination may expose you to a greater extent to the so-called serotonin syndrome. It is manifested by: irritability, confusion, arrhythmias, pressure fluctuations, muscle tremors or their stiffness, gastrointestinal problems. It is not said that your symptoms are serotonin syndromes, because it is very rare. It is also not my aim to make you afraid of this effect, but only to inform you about the possibility of its occurrence. It is very likely, however, that they are associated with a rapid increase in serotonin levels in the body caused by a change in the dosage of drugs. In my opinion, such treatment requires a new consultation with a doctor who will confirm the advisability of using two components that enter into a rare but health-threatening interaction. However, please do not stop taking your medication yourself, because this can also cause negative health consequences for you.
