How is Xifaxan used?

Hello, I got a recommendation from the doctor to use xifaxan 4 times a day for two tablets for two weeks, unfortunately I did not read and I took only 4 instead of 8 tablets a day, should I therefore extend the therapy and finish taking the entire antibiotic? I do not have the funds now to go to the gastroenterologist again.

In the described situation, it is necessary to consult a doctor. If you are not able to make another visit, I recommend contacting your doctor by e-mail. Perhaps he will be able to answer your question without having to make another appointment. The dosage regimen in the question (2 tablets 4 x daily) does not correspond to any of the regimens in the Summary of Product Characteristics. The doctor, based on his own knowledge and experience, may recommend the use of the drug in other regimens or in other indications than those included in the leaflet and Summary of Product Characteristics. Then, however, he takes full responsibility for the therapy, so in this situation, the decision on the further scheme of use of the drug should be made by the attending physician.
