The doctor prescribed me kostarox. However, I breastfeed a 1.5-year-old baby. Can I take this medicine?

There are safer alternatives to Kostarox – it is described as probably safe, but there are not enough studies that clearly allow it to be used during breastfeeding. The manufacturer of Kostarox advises against the use of the drug in nursing women, however, current literature data say that although the drug is very well absorbed into the blood, its penetration into milk is probably low. The greatest risk exists in newborns and infants, in a 1.5-year-old child it is lower. However, you should only continue using this medicine if there are no other products you can take. A safer alternative to Kostarox are products with celecoxib (e.g. Aclexa, Celebrex) or ibuprofen (e.g. Ibuprom: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/37112/ibuprom-tabletki-powlekane/apteki, Nurofen: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/55126/nurofen-tabletki-powlekane/apteki). However, while ibuprofen drugs are available without a prescription, the use of celecoxib should be consulted with a doctor - a new prescription is also necessary.
