Aluminum phosphate when used orally reacts with hydrochloric acid to form aluminum chloride. Aluminium ions are slightly absorbed in the small intestine and are excreted in the urine. The absorbed dose of aluminum after oral administration has been shown to be approximately 0.006% of the administered dose. "The maximum serum aluminum concentration is 54.5 μg/l 30 min after oral intake and returns to baseline 6.8 μg/l 3 hours. It is estimated that due to the low percentage of absorption and the rapid time of excretion of aluminum ions in efficient kidneys, there is no risk of tissue deposit formation and neurological disorders." From the above information, it follows that the aluminum contained in Gelatum Aluminii Phosphorici is absorbed to a very small extent and does not pose a health risk. The use of 3 tablespoons (15ml) per day does not exceed 100ml of Gelatum Aluminii Phosphorici, i.e. the maximum daily amount that can be taken. In conclusion, the consumption of 2-3 x 15ml of Gelatum Aluminii Phosphorici should not be toxic.
