Good morning. Do taking the following medications: Paroxinor, Rupaller, Duexon, Pronasal, Fevarin- as the last - in the evening before bedtime. Can I start taking (short-term) Dulcobis? Will there be any interactions? Do I need to keep a long period of time after taking Fevarin to take Dulcobis?

First of all, I would like to point out that there is a very important interaction between the medicines used. Paroxinor contains the substance paroxetine and Fevarin contains fluvoxamine. Although these are different chemicals, they belong to one group of drugs, i.e. serotonin reuptake inhibitors, the so-called SSRIs. Their simultaneous use may cause too large an increase in serotonin concentration, which leads to dangerous serotonin syndrome. Characteristic for serotonin syndrome are, m.in, increased sweating, fever (usually high), increase in blood pressure and chills, diarrhea and increased heart rate. In patients with serotonin syndrome, there may also be hallucinations, anxiety or even a significant degree of agitation, in addition, muscle tremors or muscle stiffness are also encountered. Therefore, please contact your doctor whether these drugs are to be taken at the same time. Dulcobis is a medicine that contains the substance bisacodyl, which belongs to laxatives. 1-2 tablets are used before bedtime, but you do not need to take a break with Fevarin. Ad hoc use of the drug will not affect other preparations taken. However, Dulcobis should not be taken every day, but only on the 3rd - 4th day when there is no bowel movement. Hyponatraemia, i.e. low sodium levels, have been reported with Paroxinor and Fevarin, and Dulcobis may exacerbate water and electrolyte disorders. For my part, I pay attention primarily to a proper diet and good hydration of the body. You can read more about the available preparations for constipation in the following article: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/kategorie/zaparcia. Please pay attention to preparations such as lactulose or egg-shaped plantain. These preparations are much milder than Dulcobis, but at the same time much safer.
