Stabilizers are devices that are usually used after injuries, their use is often recommended by a doctor or physiotherapist. Stabilizers partially immobilize the joint, limiting the possibility of movement. Because of this, skiing can be difficult. In addition, stabilizers and bands worn when riding on the slopes give a sense of greater confidence during descents, due to the reduction of m.in pain. Due to this false image of the lack of knee discomfort, skiing can be too daring and lead to greater injuries or aggravation of pain. Some skiers use stabilizers on the slope (most often people after injuries who have been ordered to do so) and they actually allow to reduce pain during the ride. However, the use of a stabilizer/tourniquet should be preceded by a consultation with a physiotherapist/doctor. Increased pain appearing during skiing should also be a signal to consult a specialist. Prevention of avoiding knee pain during skiing should be appropriate training conducted before the start of the season and warm-up done immediately before the descents. In order to protect the knees from pain, e.g. during a fall, it is worth using specialized protectors available in stores with equipment and clothing for skiers.
