Hello. I have a question. The antibiotic Ceclor is given to a 3-year-old child on an empty stomach or after a meal because I can not find the answer anywhere. Best regards.

If possible, the drug should be administered on an empty stomach. According to the manufacturer: "Cefaklor is well absorbed after oral administration on an empty stomach. Food does not affect the amount of absorbed drug. However, when cefaclor is taken after a meal, the maximum serum concentrations reach 50−75% of the concentrations occurring after taking the drug on an empty stomach and usually appear 3/4 to 1 h later." However, if vomiting or abdominal pain occurs when administering the drug on an empty stomach, you can use an antibiotic after a meal, because the food does not affect the amount of absorbed drug and only delays its duration of action.
