No, clonidine has no addictive potential. Clonidine has an effect on specific receptors that cause blood vessels to dilate, lower pressure and slow heart rate. Abrupt discontinuation of the drug may cause a sharp increase in pressure - hence the annotation in the leaflet to carry out any modifications of the treatment under the supervision of a doctor.
