The therapeutic effect of azithromycin (the active ingredient of Azitrolek) persists for about 5-7 days after the last dose, while the complete elimination of the drug from the body can take up to 20 days. For this reason, it is possible to take this medicine only once a day for a short period of time (3-5 days).
