Is it possible to do cytology at a private visit to a gynecologist and will the doctor also do other tests for me, e.g. vaginal ultrasound?

Good morning. When going to a private visit to a gynecologist, is it possible to ask for cytology? Do I have to take this into account when I talk on the phone? And will other tests be done on the day of doing cytology, such as vaginal ultrasound, etc.?

Yes, going to a private visit to the gynecologist, you can ask for a cytology to be taken. In most offices, this is a typical service and there is no need to inform the doctor about it during a phone call. If you are not sure whether a given service is provided in the office to which you are going, it is worth asking about it by phone before the visit, e.g. by calling the registration. On the day of cytology, the doctor can also perform vaginal ultrasound, there are no contraindications - if you are determined to have such an examination, it is also worth asking whether there is an ultrasound machine in a given office. I encourage you to read our article, in which we describe in detail how to prepare for a visit to a gynecologist: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/jak-przygotowac-sie-do-wizyty-u-ginekologa
