Is it possible to get ringworm of the eye with long-term use of Maxitrol ointment?
I used almost 2 weeks Dexamytrex ointment for barley. Unfortunately, so far it has not disappeared to the end, so I was prescribed Maxitrol ointment for the next 7 days. Can such a period of time of antibiotic application to the eye threaten the occurrence of ringworm of the eye?

As with other anti-infectives, long-term use of antibiotics such as neomycin and polymyxin can lead to the development of insensitive microorganisms, including fungi. If superinfection occurs, discontinuation of the product should be discontinued and alternative treatment initiated. The total treatment is supposed to last 21 days, this treatment is longer than the standard one, but it is not very long. You should not be afraid of an adverse reaction that is unlikely to occur, but does not have to occur. I recommend following the recommendations of the attending physician, take care of eye hygiene and proper introduction of ointments to get rid of the ongoing infection as soon as possible.
