Is it possible to drink alcohol while taking metformin?

Hello. I suffer from Polycystic ovarian syndrome, the doctor prescribed me Siofor 850g 2x1 tablet, if taking this drug, without suffering from diabetes, can I drink alcohol once in a while? How to keep the distance from the drug?

Indeed, patients using metformin contained m.in in Siofor are advised against alcohol consumption, especially frequent and in large quantities. Alcohol can negatively affect glycemic control, increasing the risk of an excessive decrease in blood sugar levels - hypoglycemia, which can pose a threat to the health and life of a person with diabetes. In your case, the consumption of moderate amounts of alcohol should not affect the effectiveness and safety of the drug used, because the drug is administered not because of diabetes, but polycystic ovary syndrome. In this case, a specific interval between taking the drug and alcohol consumption is not required.
