Which drug least irritates the gastric mucosa - Biofenac, Olfen Uno or Opokan Forte?

Opokan forte contains meloxicam, Olfen Uno - diclofenac, while Biofenac contains aceclofenac. All these substances belong to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs that have an irritating effect on the gastric mucosa at a comparable level. The risk of irritation and damage to the gastric mucosa is much higher with chronic use of these drugs in high doses, in patients with peptic ulcer disease or infected with Helicobacter pylori, in people over 60 years of age, as well as in patients using other gastrotoxic drugs at the same time, i.e. some anticoagulants or glucocorticosteroids. To reduce the risk of gastrointestinal symptoms, it is recommended to take these drugs after a meal. For the duration of treatment, the so-called stomach shield in the form of drugs from the group of proton pump inhibitors can also be used. In Poland, such preparations are available without a prescription and should be taken once a day on an empty stomach.
