Hi I take cital 9 months. I've been nervous and jittery inside for some time now. I went to a psychiatrist and she gave me doxepin 3 times a day for 10 mg. I start the dose from 10 because I'm sleepy. Can they be taken together and do they work after.

For @Natalia: Doxepin does not significantly affect dopamine levels. The mechanism of action of Doxepin is not fully understood. According to recent reports, its action, at least in part, is to inhibit the reuptake of norepinephrine. Cital, on the other hand, inhibits serotonin reuptake. These drugs therefore increase the concentrations of serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain, which is crucial in the fight against depression, since it is usually caused by their deficiency.
So the drug doxepin is for a deficiency or excess of dopamine. If I take these drugs together, how do they work

The simultaneous use of preparations with citalopram (the active ingredient of Cital) and doxepine (the active ingredient of Doxepin) may cause an excessive increase in serotonin levels in the brain. This threatens the occurrence of serious disorders referred to as serotonin syndrome. Some of its symptoms are fever, sweating, increased heart rate, diarrhea, (uncontrollable) muscle spasms, chills, increased reflexes, anxiety, mood swings, loss of consciousness. Medicines can be taken together if they have been prescribed by the same doctor. It is important that you follow the dosage regimen, and if you notice any side effects, contact your doctor immediately.
