How long can you take Opacorden 200,during the control of the cardioverter I heard from the doctor that 3 months. in order not to damage the thyroid gland, I started taking the drug after an incident of ventricular fibrillation after using the cardioverter five times (ruber cardiomopathy, ejection fraction 49 percent. 62 years). I take the drug about 3 months. I feel very good, ppofront I took Digoxin after which I had fainting the drug was discontinued after the cardioverter control.

The Opacorden documentation does not contain strict guidelines that treatment should be limited in time - this remains at the discretion of the attending physician. Opacorden is a drug with amiodarone that contains iodine in its molecule, which can disrupt thyroid function. According to the recommendations: "before starting treatment in all patients, and periodically during it, as well as a few months after its completion, the doctor will order a thyroid function test." If the cardiologist estimated that you can only use Opacorden for 3 months, there were probably specific reasons for this and you should follow the guidelines. If you think that the drug serves you, then the extension of use should be consulted with a doctor. As I mentioned above, the results of the thyroid examination may be crucial.
