How is the matter with the implementation of prescriptions: on the prescription I have 4 packages of the drug written, I buy 2 packages and at the time of buying the remaining packages I hear from the lady in the window that the drug is not there and it is not known when it will be. Should the pharmacy that started the prescription secure the necessary amount of the drug to fulfill it to the end?

In response to the great interest of patients, a non-reimbursed drug Ozempic from parallel imports appeared in pharmacies. The availability of the drug in pharmacies can be checked here: Ozempic 0.5 mg https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/99258/ozempic-iniekcja/apteki?pvid=275329 Ozempic 1 mg https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/99258/ozempic-iniekcja/apteki?pvid=275351

The pharmacy should try to secure the stock of medicines in a way that is appropriate to the needs of the local population. In practice, it boils down to the fact that if a given pharmacy carries out prescriptions for Ozempic, because prescriptions for this drug go to it, then after the sale of this drug it places an order to the wholesaler to replenish the condition. With more prescriptions, the pharmacy will try to have more packages in stock, and with a smaller one - correspondingly smaller. If the drug is missing in pharmaceutical wholesalers, then obviously the pharmacy is not able to replenish the stock despite the obvious desire to do so. Drug shortages or difficulties with the purchase often appear quite unexpectedly, so planning to "secure the necessary amount" is not always feasible and easy. According to the information from March 18, 2022, "The availability of Ozempic is at a constant level, while demand is growing rapidly. The last delivery was this week." At the moment (01.04.2022) 28% of pharmacies have a drug in a dose of 0.25 mg, 38% of pharmacies have a drug in a dose of 0.5 mg, and 12% of pharmacies integrated with GdziePoLek have a preparation in a dose of 1 mg: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/99258/ozempic-iniekcja/apteki/w-polsce
