Good morning. Since March 15, he has been taking Xifaxan 1600mg daily and Metronidazole 750mg per day. So far, I have mainly suffered from constipation. According to a respiratory test, I have methane overgrowth. For several days I have observed that what I eat is immediately going to the toilet and diarrhea persists several times a day about 6 times. I wonder if this is the effect of Xifaxan or bowel, which I went through 3 days before I started taking Xifaxan. My children and husband also caught the intestine. I also take enterol 4 times a day.

When xifaxan is used, between 1 and 10 patients in 100 may experience gastric symptoms such as "upper abdominal pain, constipation, sudden need to defecate, diarrhoea, bloating with the urge to pass the winds, increased abdominal tension, nausea, painful urge to defeclose". Treatment with Metronidazole may rarely (up to 1 in 1,000 people) be associated with severe and persistent diarrhoea, associated with pseudomembranous colitis, which requires urgent medical intervention. Enterol is a drug that should have a beneficial effect on the course of diarrhea, relieving it and reducing ailments. It is difficult to clearly assess what is happening, but if you have been suffering from diarrhea for several days, which does not go away, it is advisable to contact a doctor.
