Please help. I have been using aklief for a year. In a way, it helped but then there are pimples which drives me crazy. I don't think it's the right drug. I want to switch to retinol. I know that I have to start with a small concentration and only then increase. Can I stop aklief and disgust to start treatments with retinol. Do I have to expect a cleanse on my face and a huge rash again? After all, aklief contains an ingredient that is a retinoid?

The trifaroten contained in the Aklief medicinal product is included in the fourth generation of retinoids, i.e. derivatives of vitamin A. Retinol is the basic form of vitamin A, showing mainly anti-aging effect by stimulating the production of collagen in the skin. It also has a slightly exfoliating effect and regulates the secretion of sebum. Compared to other retinoids, its anti-acne effect is much weaker. The decision to modify treatment should be made in consultation with the dermatologist who recommended the use of Aklief. Theoretically, you can stop using Aklief cream and start using retinol, but given the properties of vitamin A, it is unlikely that the described change will bring the desired results. In the event that the course of treatment with topical drugs is ineffective, in consultation with the doctor, it is recommended to consider oral retinoid therapy.
