Coltowan contains ezetimibe, which inhibits the absorption of cholesterol in the intestines. One of the indications for its use is the treatment of homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (a genetically determined disease). It is usually used together with other drugs from the group of so-called statins and an appropriate diet.
