Indeed, Baclofen should be discontinued gradually, reducing the dose over about 1-2 weeks. After the abrupt discontinuation of Baclofen (especially after prolonged use), side effects of varying nature and severity were encountered. Due to the potential health risks, full medical control of this process is recommended when abandoning Baclofen therapy. In some situations, the patient may even be referred to the hospital for this purpose. As for the drug itself, then after oral application, Baclofen is almost completely excreted within 72 hours. Therefore, withdrawal symptoms are usually most severe 48-72 hours after stopping therapy. However, there is information that in some people the symptoms of baclofen withdrawal may persist for weeks, and psychological (e.g. anxiety) even longer. If your symptoms are numerous and severe, despite the withdrawal regimen consistent with the doctor's guidelines, a consultation is advisable.
