Test może dać wynik dodatni, jeśli dziecko jest chore na COVID-19. Wirus ospy nie będzie wykrywany testem zleconym przez Inspekcję Sanitarną (antygenowym lub molekularnym na COVID), ponieważ te testy służą poszukiwaniu konkretnie śladów wirusa SARS-CoV-2 w organizmie.
