There are no interactions between Heviran Comfort and alcohol. The package leaflet does not state an absolute ban on alcohol consumption.
However, it is not recommended to drink alcohol during treatment with Heviran Comfort for reasons such as:
1) Drink plenty of fluids while taking Heviran Comfort to avoid the risk of kidney damage. Alcohol consumption can lead to dehydration and increase the risk of side effects of the drug.
2) The active substance in Heviran Comfort (acyclovir) is metabolised in the liver in the same way as alcohol. May increase the risk of side effects
3) The side effects of Heviran Comfort may resemble those of excessive alcohol consumption (such as headaches, dizziness, nausea and vomiting).
4) Alcohol can weaken immunity, which can prolong the duration of herpes treatment.

Producent leku Heviran Comfort nie podaje informacji odnośnie zakazu picia alkoholu podczas stosowania tego leku, jednak braku takiej informacji nie można także traktować jako przyzwolenia na jego spożycie.
Nie określono dotąd dawki całkowicie bezpiecznej, czyli takiej, która u nikogo nie wywołałaby negatywnych konsekwencji dla zdrowia, w tym w wyniku połączenia z lekami. W mojej opinii, jeśli nie jest możliwym, całkowite powstrzymanie się od spożycia alkoholu na czas terapii, nie powinno się spożywać więcej niż tak zwaną “standardową porcję alkoholu”, czyli 200 g piwa 5%, 100 g wina 10% albo 25 g wódki 40%.
