Tegretal 200 retard jest to preparat z karbamazepiną w formie tabletek o przedłużonym uwalnianiu. Natomiast Tegretol 200 CR jest preparatem z karbamazepiną w formie tabletek o zmodyfikowanym uwalnianiu.

Ze względu na różne postacie leku preparaty nie powinny być traktowane jako odpowiedniki.

Preparaty mogą się różnić między sobą szybkością uwalniania substancji czynnej i czasem działania preparatu. Substancja czynna leku i dawka są takie same, jednakże mogą występować różnice w działaniu. Stąd nie zaleca się stosowania preparatów zamiennie.

W leczeniu padaczek przy każdej zmianie preparatu (nawet na odpowiednik) zaleca się konsultację z lekarzem prowadzącym:
