W trakcie stosowania preparatu Champix należy wyznaczyć datę zakończenia palenia. Data powinna zawierać się pomiędzy 8. a 14. dniem leczenia.
W przypadku, gdy pacjent nie chce lub nie może wyznaczyć sobie terminu zakończenia palenia w ciągu 2 tygodni, powinno się wybrać datę w ciągu pierwszych 5 tygodni od momentu zakończenia kuracji:
