Nie ma jednej uniwersalnej reguły, jakiej objętości krwawienie jest normalne, a jakie nienormalne, jednak faktem jest, że u wielu pacjentek po rozpoczęciu przyjmowania antykoncepcji bieżąca miesiączka jest bardziej obfita i dłuższa niż dotychczasowa.
