Zgodnie z rejestracją lek Lamitrin może być stosowany w leczeniu – padaczki i zaburzeń afektywnych dwubiegunowych, zatem nie jest wskazany w chorobie Thomsena.

Należy jednak pamiętać, że leki o podobnym działaniu do Lamitrinu są stosowane w terapii miotonii Thomsena, zatem istnieje prawdopodobieństwo, że lek mógłby być pomocy.
