Hunger has not been reported among the side effects of levofloxacin, but this medicine can cause hypoglycaemia (a drop in blood sugar levels), which can manifest itself as a feeling of hunger, but also, for example, rapid heartbeat, trembling hands, weakness, excessive sweating, pale skin or anxiety. This adverse reaction is rare (in ≥1/10,000 to <1/1,000 patients) and is particularly seen in patients with diabetes. However, these symptoms should disappear after eating a meal, faster after eating a food rich in simple sugars (e.g. sweets, fruit juice, sweet drink). Patients with diabetes should especially monitor their blood glucose levels while taking levofloxacin and should consult a doctor urgently if the drug significantly impairs sugar metabolism.

If you do not suffer from diabetes and do not observe any symptoms other than increased hunger among those listed below, and the described ailments do not disappear with time, intensify or are accompanied by other worrying symptoms, you should report it to a doctor who will help you find the cause of the problem and decide on the further fate of the therapy.
