I have type 6 fibroids. I was treated with Orgametril because of heavy bleeding. From May to August, the fibroid collapsed from 8 to almost 11 cm. After that, my dose was increased to 2 tablets a day. I have the impression that the fibroid is even bigger. I feel with my hand that it reaches from my uterus to my navel. Is it possible that fibroids grow due to the drug used?
Is fibroid major eligible for removal along with the uterus? I've been waiting for the doctor's decision on further treatment for half a year, hence my question.

Orgametril (linestrenol) has a progestogenic effect (similar to the natural hormone progesterone, which regulates the menstrual cycle) and in some patients may not inhibit the growth of fibroids and even promote their enlargement, especially if the fibroid is hormone-dependent. If you observe rapid tumor growth despite increasing the dose, it is worth reporting it to your doctor urgently, as it may be a signal that the therapy is ineffective.
Fibroids that reach a size of more than 10 cm are often considered for surgical treatment, and in some cases they are indeed eligible for hysterectomy, especially when they cause severe symptoms (bleeding, pain, pressure). Half a year of waiting for a therapeutic decision is a long time – consider contacting your gynaecologist again, and if possible, visiting another specialist or urgently if your symptoms are getting worse.
