Both levetiracetam and lacosamide are prescription drugs. Therefore, their dosage and which drug is appropriate for you can only be decided by a doctor.
Do not modify the doses of these medications on your own, or discontinue them without first consulting your doctor.
The listed substances differ in their mechanism of action, but their indications are similar:
- Lacosamide is used in the adjunctive therapy of partial or partial seizures of secondary generalization in people with epilepsy, as well as tonic-clonic seizures of primary generalization in people with generalized idiopathic epilepsy.
- Levetiracetam is indicated as an adjunct therapy for the treatment of partial or partial secondary generalized seizures, for the treatment of myoclonic seizures in individuals with myoclonic epilepsy, as well as for the treatment of tonic-clonic seizures originally generalized in individuals with idiopathic generalized epilepsy.
