The standard standard is the concentration of D-dimers below 500 micrograms/L. This is a conventional value that is analyzed in the context of the results of other tests determining the risk of thrombotic disease or pulmonary embolism. Physiologically higher D-dimer values occur in patients over 50 years of age, in people who train intensively, in pregnant women, in people who have undergone surgery in the period preceding the study. An increased concentration of D-dimers is an indication for medical consultation and extended diagnostics.
