Could Zafrilla be the cause of my malaise, headache, anxiety and amenorrhea?

Good morning, I have been taking zafrilla for almost 4 months and for about 20 days even something more I have a great headache, mood under my feet, a lot of anxiety and I always feel under stress. I have high cholesterol so my doctor would like me to stop taking it.
My period has not come from me for 3 months. Can this pill be the cause of my general malaise? Thank you

Yes, Zafrilla (drospirenone and ethinylestradiol) can cause side effects such as headaches, mood swings, restlessness and amenorrhea.

Menstrual disorders are very common in patients taking Zafrilla, especially in the early stages of their use. Changes in the bleeding profile such as spotting, irregular bleeding or amenorrhea may occur. Side effects are more frequent during the first months after starting treatment with Zafrilla tablets and disappear with continued treatment. The lack of bleeding should not be a cause for concern here.

If the symptoms have persisted for several weeks and affect daily functioning, it is worth considering changing the treatment method after consulting a doctor. High cholesterol levels may also be a contraindication to the use of hormonal pills, so the doctor's decision to discontinue the drug seems justified.

I also encourage you to report the symptoms you experience to your doctor, as well as to report the occurrence of an adverse effect of the preparation. Reporting side effects allows you to increase control over medicines available on the market. We wrote more about how and why to report side effects in the article:
