Hello, my doctor prescribed Levofloxacin for me today. I have now read that the drug can attack tendons. I had golfer's elbow for months last year.
I am supposed to take Levofloxacin for five days a tablet. 500 mg.
Do I have to worry and take another antibiotic instead?
I have a bacterial infection with green sputum when coughing and blowing my nose.

Levofloxacin (a fluoroquinolone antibiotic) may be associated with the risk of inflammation or rupture of tendons, especially the Achilles tendon. Although this risk is rare (affecting less than 1 in 1,000 patients), people with pre-existing tendon problems, such as golfer's elbow, may be at higher risk for these side effects.
In this case, if you experience any symptoms of pain or swelling in the tendon area, it is recommended to stop physical activity immediately and consult a doctor. It's also a good idea to discuss the possibility of using a different antibiotic with your doctor if you have concerns about using levofloxacin in the context of your previous health problems.
